The goal is to design an execution platform for railway embedded systems that addresses new cybersecurity challenges, ensures the sovereignty of the component supply chain, and integrates artificial intelligence solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In this consortium, Systerel ensures software updates and data exchanges between equipment, leveraging its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/en\/expertise\/opc-ua\/\">expertise in OPC UA<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/11\/KICKS-V3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2545 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/11\/KICKS-V3-300x170.png\" alt=\"KICS2 project France 2030\" width=\"300\" height=\"170\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/11\/KICKS-V3-300x170.png 300w, https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/11\/KICKS-V3-768x436.png 768w, https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/11\/KICKS-V3.png 903w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>KICS2<\/h2>\n<p><span id=\"p769\">In the increasingly interconnected context of Industry 4.0 and the <span id=\"780\">IIoT<\/span> <span id=\"p768\">(<span id=\"779\">Industrial<\/span> Internet of <span id=\"802\">Things<\/span>)<\/span><span id=\"781\">,<\/span> a growing number of companies are seeking equipment that can ensure both operational safety and cybersecurity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"p770\">To <span id=\"927-928\">tackle<\/span> these <span id=\"895-896\">challenges, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span id=\"782-895-896\" class=\"s-rg\">Systerel<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.se.com\/ww\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Schneider Electric<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcys.fr\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span id=\"783\" class=\"s-rg\">ARCYS<\/span><\/a> have <span id=\"929\">combined<\/span> their know-how around the <span id=\"784-897-898\" class=\"s-rg\">KICS2<\/span><span id=\"897-898\"> project<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span id=\"p771\">The <span id=\"785\" class=\"s-rg\">KICS2<\/span> project, laureate of the <a href=\"https:\/\/presse.economie.gouv.fr\/28102022-nouveaux-laureats-france-2030-le-gouvernement-devoile-17-projets-denvergure-pour-hisser-la-france-au-rang-des-champions-mondiaux-de-la-cybersecurite\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;France 2030&#8221; national plan<\/a>, aims to <span id=\"930-931\">build<\/span> a sovereign Safe &amp; Secure ecosystem adapted to the <span id=\"901-902\">future<\/span> of critical systems.<\/span><span id=\"p772\"> This ambitious project aims to lay the foundation for a range of secure equipment that can maintain their reliability over time without incurring extra costs, all while accommodating essential cybersecurity updates.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"p773\"><span id=\"796\">It<\/span> is based on:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span id=\"p775\"><span id=\"786\" class=\"s-rg\">a<\/span> generic computing core <span id=\"p774\">(<span id=\"909-910\">communications<\/span>, cybersecurity, safe processing)<\/span><span id=\"787\" class=\"s-bl\">,<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span id=\"p776\">the <span id=\"911-912\">ability<\/span> to <span id=\"799-938-939\">create<\/span> <span id=\"788-913-914\" class=\"s-bl\">sensors<\/span><span id=\"788\" class=\"s-bl\"> \/ actuators<\/span> or a <span id=\"915\">gateway<\/span> by <span id=\"940-941\">adding<\/span> <span id=\"916\">hardware<\/span> and software customization to the generic core.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span id=\"p777\" class=\" s-ja\"><span id=\"p777-pv\">Thus, KICS2 will optimize the interplay between affordability, practicality, and performance, charting a path toward sustainable and effective solutions.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span id=\"p778\">The first product stemming from KICS2 is the <span id=\"791\">SnS<\/span> <span id=\"792\">StaR<\/span> communicating static relay.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>LEIA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/LEIA_petite.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4742 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/LEIA_petite-300x171.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"171\" \/><\/a><\/h2>\n<p><strong>As the number and variety of IoT devices increases, so does the size of IoT-related software. And more software means considerably more vulnerabilities to contend with. <a href=\"https:\/\/list.cea.fr\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CEA-List<\/a> and Systerel are working together to develop a powerful and original smart analysis platform to guarantee the security of the code that powers with these devices. The research is taking place under the LEIA project, which was awarded funding through the French government\u2019s <em>Grand D\u00e9fi <\/em>instrument for technology projects.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Systems that include IoT devices are particularly difficult to protect against security threats. Each connection point can create opportunities for hackers to attack. In critical infrastructures, the consequences can be disastrous. To make matters worse, these complex systems include more and more software with a whole new set of unknowns\u2014like who developed the software and how\u2014that make it very difficult to guarantee security with any degree of assurance. And, because IoT systems are modular, every time software is added, new vulnerabilities are potentially introduced into the system.<\/p>\n<p>The LEIA project, winner of a French government <em>Grand D\u00e9fi <\/em>grant for technology projects, is providing an opportunity for smart digital systems specialist CEA-List and Systerel to pool their knowledge of formal methods, language analysis, and artificial intelligence. The partners have come up with an original approach that will leverage their powerful software analysis tools and learning algorithms to hone in on pertinent security targets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The cost-effective IoT security platform they are developing will be capable of automatically and incrementally analyzing IoT software and software updates. It will also speed up the time-consuming software validation process.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The future platform will bring key tools and capacities in support of France\u2019s digital sovereignty and the EU\u2019s strategic autonomy.<\/p>\n<h2>Back To Back Testing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/04\/B2BT_EN_grande.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1992 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/04\/B2BT_EN_grande-300x200.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/04\/B2BT_EN_grande-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/04\/B2BT_EN_grande-1024x682.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/04\/B2BT_EN_grande-768x512.png 768w, https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/04\/B2BT_EN_grande.png 1180w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/h2>\n<p><strong>In a collaborative approach to innovation, Systerel and its partners, the <a href=\"https:\/\/list.cea.fr\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CEA-List<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.se.com\/ww\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Schneider Electric<\/a>, are once again uniting their resources and skill sets on a new project: Back-to-Back Testing B2BT.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>B2BT offers means to optimize and master the design and deployment of distributed control architectures based on the IEC 61499 standard.<\/p>\n<p>In all industry sectors, engineers are facing the challenges of increasing complexity and safety demands while facing increasing pressure to reduce cost and time to market.<\/p>\n<p>For the industry of the future, a key challenge is to move from a highly centralized approach to automation, to a more distributed approach where control functions are executed in field devices. This approach, where the automation logic uses the embedded computing resources of\u00a0 smart instruments and actuators is called \u201cDistributed Control\u201d;<\/p>\n<p>The engineering challenge associated with IEC 61499-based Distributed Control is to determine how best to distribute the control logic to the available computing resources while satisfying the overall requirements (performance, availability, communication bandwidth, etc.) specific to each installation.<\/p>\n<p>To meet this challenge, B2BT uses software tools consisting of a digital twin combined with formal methods and automated testing in a two-phase approach. The first phase uses a digital twin to feed estimation tools that guide the designer to the best architecture compromise. The second phase, thanks to the B2BT technology, generates and automatically executes tests that validate the conformity of the actually deployed architecture to the original model.<\/p>\n<p>With this two-phase approach, the design engineer is able to develop the best compromise between cost, performance, safety and time to market.<\/p>\n<p>We would like to thank INERIS for their continued support and interest in the underlying technologies and their potential future uses.<\/p>\n<p>The project is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>supported by Systematic<\/li>\n<li>financially supported by BPI France and the Paris authorities.<\/li>\n<li>supported in a joint framework between the government and the regional authorities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>INGOPCS<\/h2>\n<h2><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2747 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Logo_IngOPCS_d\u00e9f-300x115.png\" alt=\"OPC UA\" width=\"287\" height=\"110\" \/><\/h2>\n<p>Cyber-attacks can have deep consequences, especially when they target essential operators in the sectors of energy, transportation, water supply, etc.<br \/>Vital industrial systems therefore require a significant improvement of their security level.<\/p>\n<p>The OPC UA standard is more and more deployed in industry and becomes a key element of industrial systems. It is one of the rare open standards to address security.<\/p>\n<p>Systerel is an <a href=\"https:\/\/opcfoundation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OPC Foundation member<\/a> and is the INGOPCS project leader.<\/p>\n<p>The INGOPCS project, with the support of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ssi.gouv.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ANSSI<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.naval-group.com\/en\">DCNS<\/a>, aims at:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>developing an open-source and secure implementation of the OPC UA standard,<\/li>\n<li>verifying this implementation with specialized tools (applying formal methods),<\/li>\n<li>demonstrating that the developed software stack can be integrated in the partners&#8217; future solutions,<\/li>\n<li>demonstrating that the global deployment of the OPC UA standard satisfies the security requirements of industrial networks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Beyond the bare stack, the outcome of the INGOPCS project will therefore be a new French industrial cluster of products and services addressing the market needs in cybersecurity.<\/p>\n<p>The project is certified by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.systematic-paris-region.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Systematic<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.minalogic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minalogic <\/a>centers of innovation.<\/p>\n<p>Systerel\u2019s partners for this project are: <a href=\"http:\/\/fr.atos.net\/fr-fr\/accueil\/nos-solutions\/atos-worldgrid.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Atos Worldgrid<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edf.fr\/groupe-edf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EDF<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schneider-electric.com\/fr\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Schneider Electric Automation<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arcinfo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ARC Informatique<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eolane.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00c9olane<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/trust-in-soft.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TrustInSoft<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www-list.cea.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CEA-List<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telecom-paristech.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Telecom ParisTech<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-893 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/aerocots-300x110.png\" alt=\"innovation\" width=\"300\" height=\"110\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>AEROCOTS (FUI-AAP15)<\/h2>\n<p>Current aircraft\u2019s electrical distribution systems are specifically designed, which \u00a0generates higher costs and longer time-to-market for aeronautics industrial companies.<\/p>\n<p>The AEROCOTS project (Advanced Electrical Reliable &amp; Optimized Core Off The Shelf) aims to solve this issue for under 100 passengers aircrafts market (including helicopters).<\/p>\n<p>In a processus of embedded electrical system development, the end client (aircraft manufacturer) submits his requirements to the equipment supplier (Leach International Europe, project leader) which implements them.<\/p>\n<p>These requirements gather the power supply\u2019s securing strategy on the entire aircraft including emergency and degraded modes.<\/p>\n<p>The power distribution unit is designed using modular and solutions-oriented configurable components. One of the issues is to produce user-friendly and reliable configuration tools together with a DO178 DAL B certification kit which enables the validation of the power system unit design new configuration with less effort.<\/p>\n<p>Systerel is the main contributor of this work package.<\/p>\n<p>To this end, Systerel relies on its Eclipse technologies expertise for the development of highly-designed HMI and on its formal methods expertise for the \u00a0automation of verification procedures.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"SYSNormal\">ADVANCE (FP7)<a href=\"http:\/\/www.advance-ict.eu\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-890 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/AdvanceLogo_2.png\" alt=\"m\u00e9thodes formelles projet ADVANCE\" width=\"360\" height=\"110\" \/><\/a><\/h2>\n<p>The overall objective of the ADVANCE project is the development of a unified tool-based framework \u00a0for automated \u00a0formal \u00a0verification \u00a0and \u00a0simulation-based \u00a0validation \u00a0of \u00a0cyber-physical \u00a0systems.<\/p>\n<p>Within the scope of this project, Systerel ensures the maintenance and evolution of the <a title=\"Plate-forme RODIN\" href=\"https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/en\/expertise\/formal-methods\/rodin-platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RODIN platform<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Systerel also works with Alstom Transport on formal modeling Event-B of a signaling system. This case study analyzes the technical feasibility of a new computer based interlocking design suggested by Systerel.<br \/>The goal is to get an alternative solution as safe as current solutions but at a lower cost.<\/p>\n<p>This work is an opportunity for Systerel to strengthen its system skills in signaling, as well as its thorough knowledge of formal modeling techniques in the railway sector.<\/p>\n<p>Learn more: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.advance-ict.eu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.advance-ict.eu<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>openETCS (ITEA2)<a href=\"http:\/\/www.openetcs.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-894 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.systerel.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/openetcs_logosmall-300x89.png\" alt=\"m\u00e9thodes formelles projet OpenETCS\" width=\"300\" height=\"89\" \/><\/a><\/h2>\n<p>The European Union requires the replacement of railway signalling systems currently used in Europe (some thirty heterogeneous systems often incompatible) by a unique system, the ETCS (European Train Control System)<\/p>\n<p>This specification set standardizes the future European railway network.<\/p>\n<p>The OpenETCS aims to strengthen the ETCS specification set by implementing formal methodologies and proof techniques.
